‌History and Importance of the Department

This department was established in 2015 and started to receive students in the same year.
The importance of the Physics Department lies within:
- Preparation of professional teachers who have the ability and motivation to continue to improve 
their experiences and use various ways of teaching.
- Preparation of teachers with skills in lecturing secondary students.
- Producing graduates who will have strong and versatile technical, analytical and educational 
skills necessary to develop solutions to complex problems in society. 
- Offering a robust physics curriculum that cultivates critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

What is Physics Program? 

The Physics Department offers a wide variety of theoretical and experimental program in physics, starting from the fundamental aspects of physics towards the most advanced ones. In addition the Department offers a variety of mathematical courses and different teaching methods including psychology and debates. Graduate from this department are well-prepared to be teachers in any secondary school to teach physics. 


Why study Physics? 

Humanity has learned that there is an order in the Universe, and that this order can be expressed through physical laws. The study of physics involves understanding of the everyday phenomena in nature is crucial to earn better quality of life for our nations and humanity as a whole through approved application of technologies. In general, everyone needs an understanding of physics because of the bearing it has on the wide range of issues facing today’s world, such as energy resources, the environment, space exploration, communication and medicine. 

Graduate skills and Learning outcomes: 

- Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, material, and atmospheric dynamics, and mechanical, electrical, atomic and sub- atomic structures and processes. 

- Correlating physics problems with the real life situations. 

- Combining physics with other branches of science to provide applicable methods. 

- Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. 

- Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making. 

- Using scientific rules and methods to solve problems. 

- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. 

- Using mathematics to solve problems. Mathematics -Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. 

- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders. 

- Recognize how observation, experiment and theory work together to continue to expand the frontiers of knowledge of the physical universe. 

- Convert a physical situation articulated to a mathematical formulation, and then analyze it quantitatively. 


Written skills: 

We aim to develop written and oral presentation of work, from the write-ups of first-year practical and the fourth-year research project. 

Teaching skills: 

The fourth-year education gives students practical experience of school-teaching.
Study Methods 
The route of studying physics will be accomplished by means of lecturing, scientific reports writing, presenting seminars, and practical sessions. The courses grade will be distributed in the following scheme:


Midterm exam, first (17%) 

Midterm exam, second (17%) 

Quiz (2%) 

Activity (4%) 

Final exam (60%) 



Language:
The medium of instruction in Physics Department is English. 
  
Duration:
The study duration of BSc in Physics is four academic years with full-time study. Normally an academic year starts on 1st Sept of each year and lasts on 1st July of the next year. 
  
Future job prospects:

Students who graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in physics can work as teacher in Secondary schools.
